Gateway Foundation Rebrands to Alpharus Health

Chicago, IL, Aug. 19, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- After nearly 60 years of providing life-changing substance use disorder treatment and mental health services, Gateway Foundation announced today it is rebranding as Alpharus Health. This new name reflects the organization's growth and vision for the future of behavioral health care.

The transition to Alpharus Health marks a significant milestone in the organization's history. While the name and visual identity are changing, the organization's commitment to delivering compassionate, patient centered care remains unchanged. Patients, families, community partners, and stakeholders can continue to expect the same trusted services and dedicated teams that have guided recovery journeys for decades.

"As the needs of the people we serve continue to evolve, we are evolving with them," said Jeremy Klemanski, President and CEO of Alpharus Health. "Our new name reflects who we are today and where we are headed tomorrow. Alpharus Health represents our commitment to providing substance use and mental health treatment, advancing professional education through our training institute, and advocating for policies that improve lives through increased access to care."

The Greek word for guiding light is “pharus” and the name Alpharus Health represents hope for people navigating challenges related to substance use and mental health. It reflects the organization's belief that healing is not a single event, but a lifelong journey that deserves ongoing support, compassion, and partnership.

The rebrand comes as demand for behavioral health care continues to increase nationwide. Alpharus Health's updated identity better aligns with its expanded mission and comprehensive approach to care, which includes substance use treatment, dedicated mental health services, professional training, public policy advocacy, and correctional treatment programs.

Although the organization is embracing a new identity, its foundation remains firmly rooted in the values that have guided its work for nearly six decades: access, compassion, inclusion, excellence, and innovation.

"We are incredibly proud of our legacy as Gateway Foundation and grateful for the trust that patients, families, employees, and partners have placed in us over the years," said Klemanski. "As Alpharus Health, we are building on that legacy while positioning ourselves to meet the changing behavioral health needs of future generations."
